Explanation
The name “As-Salaam” means The Peace, The Source of Peace, The One who is free of any imperfection, harm, or disturbance. This name represents ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ attribute of perfect peace and harmony, as well as the fact that He is the universe’s ultimate source of peace.
As the name “As-Salam” implies, ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ is the source of all peace, and He bestows it on His creation. This name reminds believers that ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ is the ultimate source of peace.
The concept of peace is closely linked to the concept of submission to ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ in Islamic theology (Islam). Believers are reminded that true peace and harmony can only be attained by completely surrendering to ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ will and obeying His commands.
In the Quran, there are many verses that emphasize ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ attribute of peace, such as:
Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of ALLAH. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of ALLAH hearts are assured.”(Quran 13:28)
The name “As-Salam” reflects one of ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ most important attributes in Islam, which is perfect peace and harmony. This name reminds believers that ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ is the ultimate source of peace and that by following His commandments, they can achieve inner peace and spread peace in their relationships with others.
