Explanation
Ar-Razzaa is the name of ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ. The Provider, the Sustenance Provider. It comes from the Arabic word “Rizq”. He is the one who creates all forms of sustenance and provides for people’s living. No matter how many or how desperate their needs, Ar-Razzaaq provides for all of his servants’ needs. It is a reminder that everything we have comes from ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ and that we should be grateful for His blessings.
Razzaaq has two primary meanings and derives from the root raa-zaa-qaa. Receiving something beneficial or receiving a portion or share is the first major meaning. Being provided with or being supplied with the necessities of existence is the second main meaning.
In four derived forms, this root occurs 123 times in the Quran. Razaqnaakum (“we provided you”) and al-rizqa (“the provision”) are two examples of these forms. Razzaaq has an intensification-based linguistic structure that denotes a comprehensive method of providing and sustaining. Ar-Razzaaq offers all means of growth and support for the body as well as the soul.
ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ provision is not limited to material wealth. It also includes spiritual nourishment, such as guidance and knowledge. ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ provides for us in ways that we may not even be aware of. He sustains us and takes care of our needs, both physical and spiritual.
According to ‘Abdullah, the Messenger of ALLAH ﷺ said, the truthful and truly inspired, said: “Each of you gathered in the womb of his mother for forty days, then became a clot for an equal amount of time (of forty days), and became a piece of flesh for an equal amount of time (of forty days). Then ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ sent an angel and commanded him to write four things: his provision, his age, and whether he will be among the wretched (in the Hereafter). The spirit is then infused into him. And by ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ, a person among you (or a man) may do deeds of the people of the Fire till there is only a cubit or an arm-breadth distance between him and the Fire, but then that writing (which ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ has ordered the angel to write) precedes, and he does the deeds of the people of Paradise and enters it; and a man may do the deeds of the people of Paradise till there is only a cubit or two between him and Paradise, and then that writing precedes and he does the deeds of the people of the Fire and enters it.
