Explanation
Al-Mutakabbir is one of the names of ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ. Al-Mutakabbir means the supremely great one. This name highlights the greatness of ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ and His superiority over everything else. He is exalted far above all creation, the One who is free of the characteristics of the creatures and does not resemble them. It is a reminder for us to always keep ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ at the center of our lives and to recognize His power and authority. He has rights, benefits, and characteristics that others do not. He is enormous and manifests this greatness in all things and in numerous ways.
From the root kaf-ba-ra (ك ب ر ), which in Classical Arabic means: to be great in size, rank or dignity; to be huge, fearsome; to be great in age; to be eldest; to be great in dignity; noble; majestic; to be great in learning; and most known to have privileges over all others.
ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ attribute of Al-Mutakabbir signifies His sovereignty over all creation and His complete independence from the limitations and weaknesses of the created beings. It underlines that ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ is the one who possesses absolute power, knowledge, and wisdom and is hence worthy of all honour and devotion. Al-Mutakabbir is also a gentle reminder to believers to submit to ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ will and humble themselves before Him.
ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ is the only one who deserves to be worshipped and revered. Al-Mutakabbir emphasizes this fact and reminds us that we should never let anything or anyone take precedence over ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ. It is important to maintain humility and recognize our own limitations in the face of ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ greatness.
Al-Mutakabbir is a fundamental quality of ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ that serves as a reminder of His immeasurable majesty and unquestionable control over all things. It serves as a reminder to acknowledge our utter dependence on ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ and to humble ourselves before Him.
The best strength you can have is to truly depend on ALLAH سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ and to ask for His assistance in both difficult and easy circumstances. Showing humility before your Lord can bring you to the highest level of greatness.
