Explanation
The name “Al-Mu’min” means The Granter of Security, The Giver of Faith, The One Who Gives Peace and Security to His Creation. It reminds Muslims that Allah is their ultimate protector and that they can rely on Him for their safety and well-being.
The word from the root â-m-n and has numerous classical Arabic explanations such as – to be secure, safe, free from fear, to be quiet, tranquil, grant protection, safeguard, to be trusted, and trustworthy.
Al-Mu’min also means The Fulfiller of Promises, which includes providing His servants with sustenance and well-being in this world, forgiving their sins, and rewarding them for their good deeds in the hereafter., rewarding them for their good deeds. He is also the One Who fulfills the good expectations that His servants have of Him.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “ALLAH says: ‘I am just as My slave thinks I am, (i.e. I am able to do for him what he thinks I can do for him) and I am with him if He remembers Me. (Sahih al-Bukhari 7405)
In the Quran, ALLAH is referred to as Al-Mu’min, which means the Giver of Peace and the Source of Faith. This title denotes that ALLAH is the One who gifts the virtues of peace, security, and faith. In addition, Al-Mu’min eradicates fear, confirms His uniqueness, and possesses the highest level of faithfulness.
Al-Mu’min is the only source of aman so ask Him only to grant you safety, as the Prophet ﷺ said to Abu Bakr radiyallahu ‘anhu: Be not afraid, surely ALLAH is with us. [Quran, 9:40] Have emaan and ask Al-Mu’min to grant you aman (peace and security) in your heart, no matter how difficult the situation.
Reflect on the blessing of security and safety. So let them worship the Lord of this House, Who fed them against hunger, and secured them against fear. [Quran 106:3-4] If Al-Mu’min gave you a safe place to live and work, show your thankfulness; many are not in this position and teach children to recognize this favor upon them.
